In Spain, a professional website for a small business costs, as an indicative market reference, between €1,500 and €5,000 for a bespoke showcase site, and between €5,000 and €30,000 when it includes bookings, a customer database or invoicing. On top of that comes a monthly fee for hosting and maintenance.
This guide covers price ranges by type of website, what each price includes, what you pay every month and a simple way to compare quotes: the three-year cost. At the end there is a worked example with fixed prices + VAT, using real figures.
Short answer: how much does a website cost in 2026?
In 2026, the cost of a website for a small business or a self-employed professional in Spain depends on the work involved, and that work comes down to three things: how many pages and how much copy it needs, whether it is built bespoke or on a template, and which tools sit behind it (bookings, customers, quotes, invoices). As an indicative reference, a bespoke showcase site sits between €1,500 and €5,000; a site with bookings, a customer database and a blog, between €5,000 and €15,000; and a site that also handles quotes, invoices and payments, between €11,000 and €30,000. On top of that initial payment comes a monthly fee for hosting and maintenance: server, SSL certificate, backups, updates and support. So when you compare two quotes, the headline price is not enough: add the initial payment to three years of fees, and check that both quotes include the same things.
Price by type of website
The type of website accounts for most of the price. A landing page is a single page with one goal; a corporate website presents the business and its services across several pages; a bespoke website with an admin panel adds tools to run the business. An online shop is a different project, with a catalogue, payments, shipping and returns.
| Type of website | What it usually includes | Indicative reference |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page (a single page) | One page with one goal, such as a campaign, a service or a sign-up, with a form and a WhatsApp link. | Below a corporate website; depends on the design and the copy. |
| Bespoke corporate website | Several pages (home, services, contact and legal pages), basic SEO and a form. | €1,500–5,000 |
| Bespoke website with bookings, customers and a blog | All of the above, plus bookings, customer records, a blog and reviews, editable from a panel. | €5,000–15,000 |
| Website that runs the business | All of the above, plus quotes, invoices, payments, expenses and reports in the same panel. | €11,000–30,000 |
| Online shop | Catalogue, basket, payment gateway, shipping and taxes. | Reference only: depends on the catalogue and the integrations; not priced in this guide. |
The ranges are wide because they cover very different projects: five pages with copy you already have is not the same as twenty pages with new copy, photos and a second language. Use them to get your bearings, not to settle on a figure.
Another decision moves the price: bespoke or template. A template starts from a ready-made design where you swap colours, photos and text; it goes live sooner and the initial payment is lower, but the structure belongs to the template, not to your business. A bespoke website is designed around what you sell and how your customers find you: it takes more hours at the start and fits when the site has to do more than inform, such as booking appointments, sending quotes or taking payments.
What does the price include?
A professional website price covers more hours than you can see: understanding the business, writing the copy, designing, building, setting up basic SEO and leaving the site live and secure. A serious quote breaks these parts down, so you can compare each one separately.
- Initial study. What you sell, to whom and how a customer reaches you. Without it, the copy is written blind.
- Copy and structure. Which pages are needed and what each one says. It is the part people most often underestimate when asking for a quote.
- Design. How it looks on a phone and on a computer, with your brand and your photos.
- Development. The code, the forms, the WhatsApp link and fast loading on mobile.
- Basic SEO. Titles, descriptions, structured data, a sitemap and your Google Business Profile set up.
- Legal pages and cookie notice. Legal notice, privacy and cookies, which Spanish rules require of a business website.
- Admin panel. If there is one, it lets you change text, photos and pages without relying on anyone.
- Going live. Domain connected, SSL certificate and backups from day one.
When two quotes are far apart, the difference usually sits in this list. One includes the initial study and the copy; the other assumes you will supply them. One gives you a panel to edit the site; the other makes you ask for every change. Before comparing figures, check that you are comparing the same thing.
What you pay every month and every year (domain, hosting, maintenance)
A website is not a one-off payment: it needs a domain that renews every year, a server to live on and someone to keep it up to date. In most quotes this comes as a monthly or yearly fee, separate from the initial payment.
- Domain. Your web address, for example a .es. It renews every year with the registrar, and the price varies by extension and first-year offer.
- Hosting. The server where the website lives. It is worth knowing where it is: a server in the European Union makes GDPR compliance easier.
- SSL certificate. The padlock in the browser (HTTPS). Without it, browsers warn visitors that the site is not secure.
- Backups. Ideally automatic, and restorable without losing days of work.
- Updates and support. Fixing bugs, applying security patches and answering questions as they come up.
Always ask what the fee covers, because two identical fees can include very different things: one, just the server; another, the server, backups, updates and support.
As a reference with real figures, the hosting and maintenance fee on our packages is €49, €69 or €95 a month + VAT, depending on the package. It includes hosting on servers in the European Union, an SSL certificate, backups, updates and support. Over a year that comes to €588, €828 or €1,140 + VAT. If the site has an admin panel, day-to-day changes (a price, a photo, opening hours) are yours to make, without waiting for anyone.
The three-year cost: how to compare quotes
To compare two quotes fairly, add the initial payment to 36 monthly maintenance fees. That is what you will actually pay over three years, and it shows whether a low headline price is offset by high fees, or the other way round.
The sum is: three-year cost = initial payment + (monthly fee × 36). If the fee is yearly, multiply it by three. If the quote gives no fee, ask how much hosting and maintaining the site will cost, because that bill will arrive anyway.
| Package | One-off payment | Monthly fee | 36 fees | Three-year total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | €1,790 + VAT | €49 + VAT | €1,764 + VAT | €3,554 + VAT |
| Professional | €2,390 + VAT | €69 + VAT | €2,484 + VAT | €4,874 + VAT |
| Complete | €2,990 + VAT | €95 + VAT | €3,420 + VAT | €6,410 + VAT |
These are launch prices, valid until 31 December 2026, and all of them carry 21% VAT on top. The Business Study (€500 + VAT) is not included in the table: if you then go ahead with the website, it is deducted from the website payment or from the monthly fees.
Run the same sum on every quote you receive and put the three-year figures side by side, with the same things included in each. That figure tells you what it costs to have the website for three years; the headline price only tells you what it costs to build it.
Who builds it: freelancer, small studio or website builder?
There are three routes and any of them can work, depending on what you need and how much time you have: build it yourself with a website builder, hire an independent professional or a small studio, or work with an agency and its team.
- Website builder (you build it). You pay a subscription and put in your own time. It fits if you need something simple soon and can spare the hours; design, copy and SEO are up to you.
- Freelancer or small studio. One person or a small team builds the site from start to finish. You deal with them directly; ask who maintains it afterwards and what happens if that person is unavailable.
- Agency. Several profiles (design, development, marketing) on one project. It fits large projects or ones with many moving parts, and the price reflects that structure.
Whichever route you choose, ask the same questions: who writes the copy, who maintains the site, where it is hosted and whether you can change content without asking.
Signs of a complete quote
A complete quote states what it delivers, what it costs up front and every month, and what happens afterwards. If any of these pieces is missing, ask before you sign.
- A fixed price, with VAT stated: «+ VAT» or «VAT included».
- A written list of pages and features.
- Who writes the copy and who supplies the photos.
- The monthly or yearly fee, and what it covers.
- Whether it includes legal pages, a cookie notice and basic SEO.
- How you will edit the site afterwards: with a panel or by requesting each change.
- Where the site is hosted and who keeps the backups.
- What happens to the website and the domain if you stop the service.
A quote that shows only a figure and the word «website» is no use for comparing: ask for a breakdown.
A worked example with fixed prices
As an example with real figures, these are our packages. The website is built bespoke in React and Next.js, with its own admin panel, and hosted on servers in the European Union. One person carries out the study and builds the website and the panel, with nothing subcontracted.
- Essential: €1,790 + VAT and €49 a month + VAT. Bespoke website, local SEO (Google Business Profile, structured data and sitemap), contact form, one-tap WhatsApp and a panel for text, pages, photos, SEO and legal pages.
- Professional: €2,390 + VAT and €69 a month + VAT. Everything in Essential, plus bookings, customers, a blog and reviews in the panel.
- Complete: €2,990 + VAT and €95 a month + VAT. Everything in Professional, plus quotes, Verifactu invoices, payments, expenses and reports.
The website starts with the Business Study (€500 + VAT): a 14-part report on what you sell, to whom and how a customer reaches you. The copy, the pages and the keywords for the website come out of it. If you then go ahead with the website, those €500 are deducted from the website payment or from the monthly fees.
The details of each package are on its own page: you can see web design packages and prices and compare them with any other quote using the three-year table in this guide.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a simple website cost in Spain?
As an indicative reference, a simple bespoke website for a small business sits between €1,500 and €5,000. Our Essential package costs €1,790 + VAT, plus €49 a month + VAT for hosting and maintenance. What moves the figure most is the number of pages and who writes the copy.
How much does it cost to maintain a website each month?
It depends on what the fee covers. On our packages it ranges from €49 to €95 a month + VAT and includes EU hosting, SSL, backups, updates and support. Before comparing fees, ask for a written list of what each one includes.
How much does the domain cost?
The domain is paid yearly to the registrar, and its price varies by extension (.es, .com) and first-year offer. Ask whether your maintenance fee includes it or whether it is billed separately, and check that the domain is registered in your name.
Does the price include the legal pages and the cookie notice?
It should. Spain's Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE) and the GDPR require a legal notice, a privacy policy and, if the site uses non-essential cookies, a notice to accept them. Ask whether they will write them for you or just leave the space. On our packages, the legal pages are edited from the panel.
Does the design price include ranking on Google?
It includes basic SEO if the quote says so: titles, descriptions, structured data, a sitemap and your Google Business Profile. Nobody can guarantee a specific position on Google, so be wary of anyone who promises one. Ranking afterwards is ongoing work: content, reviews and an up-to-date profile.
Can I deduct the website if I am self-employed?
It depends on your tax regime and how you use the website; your tax adviser or gestoría is the one to confirm it. Always ask for an invoice with VAT shown separately and issued to your business.
